Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic goes easily to the quarter-finals after his success against Cristian Garin (6-2, 6-4, 6-2)

And 12 for Novak Djokovic! The Serb qualified for his twelfth quarter-final at Wimbledon on Monday. All in just sixteen entries. The world number one continues to gain strength and has had no difficulty getting rid of Cristian Garin in 1h48 (6-2, 6-4, 6-2). The Chilean could only have deluded in the second set but the march was too high for the twentieth in the world. On Wednesday, Djokovic will face Marton Fucsovics, winner of Andrey Rublev.

Djokovic’s only hot moment of the day came at the very start of the second set when he had to save two break points. These two occasions discarded (1-1), he resumed his domination to lose only thirteen points on his service throughout the match. If it was more difficult to conclude this round by allowing five break opportunities to escape before taking the opposing service at 4-4 (6-4, 57 minutes). Previously, the Serbian had set the tone for entry into this Center Court with a white break followed by a shutout to lead 2-0.

The walk continues for Djokovic

A second break at 3-1 and Novak Djokovic only needed 23 minutes to win this first set (6-2). The third was not much longer for the same score (28 minutes). Much less solid from the baseline than his opponent, less strong as soon as it was necessary to go forward, Garin tried everything in vain, nothing worked. Opposite, Djokovic had the answer to everything. As usual. And this, regardless of the player on the other side of the net.

With only one set lost in this tournament (the first he played against Jack Draper), here is Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals without having drawn on his physical reserves. Unlike Marton Fucsovics who has just battled for five sets against Andrey Rublev. The quest for a twentieth Grand Slam title will now pass through Hungary for the world number one. Before a potential semi-final against Karen Khachanov or Denis Shapovalov.
