Netflix has confirmed more names have joined the cast of The Crown season 5, with Khalid Abdalla set to play Diana’s boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed.

The Kite Runner star will appear alongside Elizabeth Debicki in upcoming episodes of the hit programme, due to air next year.

Actor Khalid is known for roles in United 93, The Square and Green Zone.

Both The Princess of Wales and the Egyptian department store heir were killed in a tragic car crash in 1997. They had become romantically involved in the summer of that year.

The streaming giant also confirmed that Oslo star Salim Daw has been cast as Dodi’s father – the former Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed.

Details of the upcoming season are still underwraps, although the news suggests that the season will feature moments from towards the end of Diana’s life.
